We are defending ourselves...

Dr. Jasmine Syedullah, co-author of Radical Dharma, radical black Buddhist and abolition theorist writes:

"We are not mercenaries. We are defending ourselves against the modern threats of mass disposability.  We are not just hungry, we are starting.  We could become one rather than scramble to devend our stuff and our families.  Together, there are no individual selves to be defended. Together, self-defense is collective transformation."

This is what I want to be a part of creating.  The interconnected cultures of individualism, consumerism, and capitalism pose stalwart obstacles to our organizing our communities into organisms that transform and heal from within.  I am seeking to weed the tendencies to prioritize the protection of my own comfort above all else in order to replace them with practices of collective growth, healing, and protection through transformation.
