Circles.

Remember, O Israel.

We go in circles.

We've been here before.

Back around to the same obstacle, agony, illness.

An echo of the same tune.

We all go in circles.

Days and seasons and years,

Birth and death, seeds that sprout and seeds that fall to wait until next spring, diapers that lead again to diapers with a few decades in between (if you're lucky).

The cyclical nature of all things is a rule.

There is, however, no rule that our circles need to bring us back to the very same point on the plane.

Our cycles can become ruts, downward spirals, and upwards ones too.

The cyclical nature of All can be ripe mulch from which Nihilism may sprout.

The cycles can also be, as Rilke voiced, something to surrender to as they ever widen, circles growing to encompass more of God.

Please let this sickening cycle back to slaughter in a school,

be what it takes to break the rut, widen, deepen, rise, spiral upwards,

Break out of the circle that leads back to the junkies' haunt where violence and supremacy and subjugation are all different names for the same substance.

It's not true, the circles don't have to crush our souls, they can just as easily set us free.
